Since Karli was born she always seemed to be a little camera shy. Even after she was smiling all the time, as soon as I brought the camera out, those smiles were turned off immediately! But now that has changed! She LOVES the camera, and is ever-so-willing to give me smiles that I can capture!

My sweet sweet Karli:

I can’t believe half a year has passed since you were born. I can’t remember what life was like before you were here. You bring me more joy than I could ever imagine. It just warms my heart when you see me, and you smile from ear to ear. Your smile lights up your whole face! Your personality is truly blossoming, and you are going to be such a silly little girl. You love to play on the floor with your toys, and you have figured out how to roll from one side of the room to the other. And you love your new found freedom! You are officially a “sitter” now, and it just reminds me how big you are!

You got your first tooth today! The last 2 nights you have been very unlike yourself, and now we know why! Also another first was while we were at your 6 month check up today, Dr. Alapat discovered you had an ear infection. So she gave you some antibiotics and we go back in 2 weeks for a recheck. You are growing so much! You weighed 16 pounds 12 ounces, and 26 inches long.

You are now eating food two times a day (in the morning(fruit with cereal) and in the evening (vegetables)). And love every bit of it! Your favorites are bananas with mixed berries, and corn with sweet potatoes. We’ve been practicing using a cup and you know how to bring it to your mouth, just haven’t figured out how to always drink from it.

I love you sweet girl, more than you will ever know!

Tons of people have told me that Karli will grow up before I know it, and it’s true! I feel like this past month, she has grown the most! This has been a big month for developmental milestones. She started rolling over (FINALLY!), “talking” more and more, she turns her head to someone calling her name, she has found her feet and they are in her mouth a lot of the time, and she’s sitting up with assistance! Her food palate has expanded greatly with carrots (YUM), green beans (yuck!), peas, pears, and apples. Carrots and sweet potatoes are her very favorites so far!

We close on our new house this Monday, and we are super excited! I’ll post pictures once we get settled! Work is going well for me, it’s amazing how in the same “business” things are so different from hospital to hospital. The babies are the same, and that’s one thing i’m glad I can count on! The computer charting is the hardest part, but I’ll eventually get more efficient at it! I’m mainly looking forward to not having as far of a commute once we move, I’ll go from a 60 mile drive each way to a 31 mile drive each way. SO much better!

I’ve been lacking in the picture department this month, and it makes me sad, so I’ve made a point to take more pictures of my growing girl!

FINALLY getting back to somewhat normal! The past month has been a whirlwind! With both of us finishing up our jobs in Lubbock, packing up our whole house, moving across the state and looking for new jobs, all with a 3 month old, life has been a little hectic! But life. is. good. It’s nice to have our family so close, and be able to see anyone when we want. Through all of this, it is safe to say that Brandon and I have an AMAZING family! They have been so supportive of us through the whole process and have been a huge help!

Karli has done great adjusting to the move! It didn’t affect her at all with her sleeping, which I was afraid of! She has been sleeping through the night for the last 2 months, and let me tell you, it has been great! She is such a good baby. And I know people always say that about their baby. But she really is! She will play and play on the floor on her own, is SUPER happy, she puts herself to sleep and eats like a champ. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect baby. Plus she’s mine, so she would be perfect no matter what!

Karli is now 4 months old! I love how she is getting more active, and smiley, and “talking” more! I am so in love with her, and everyday that love grows! We started cereal this week and she LOVES it! We are still working on turning over, she loves playing on her back and doesn’t mind her tummy either, but she’s content in the position that I leave her. haha In due time!

We go in the morning for her check up, so I’ll have updates for weight and length later on. And MY biggest news is that I got a JOB!!! I was getting a little discouraged in the job department, but everything finally worked out! I’m now newly employed at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Memorial City. I think it’s going to be a great fit, and it’s a DAY position!! I’m so excited to have a semi normal work life!

So all in all life is going in the right direction! Brandon is on his way with a job, but don’t want to announce it yet until it’s official (I don’t want to jinx it ). So now our next step is to find a house, and we are working on that!

My sweet Karli is 3 months old today! She is changing so much everyday! Our newest thing this week is that she is giggling now! She is getting more and more smiley, and I love that I can just walk into the room and her face just lights up! She’s sleeping about 9 hours at night, and let me tell you, that has been AWESOME! I love being a Mommy! I always knew I wanted to be a mom and have a family, but I never could of imagined how good it would feel. I love that when she is crying I know what she needs, I love how she studies and ponders all the new things that she experiences in the world, and I can’t wait for the day that she can ask about it. I love how she “talks” to me, I love how she plays in her bath, and her after bath smell. I cherish every moment with her, and no matter how much stuff I have to do, I will always take the time to sit and play with/cuddle with her. She’s only a baby once, and time flies when you’re havin’ fun!!!

The biggest thing going in our lives is that we are MOVING in less than 3 weeks!! It’s pretty bittersweet. We both like Lubbock. I LOVE my job, and we have good friends here, BUT we have an amazing family that deserves to watch Karli grow up. Brandon and I are still waiting on jobs, we both have potentials but nothing for sure yet. We are going to stay at Brandon’s grandmother’s house until we can get settled into new jobs, then we will be looking for a house! I’m so excited to get everything in order and the new chapter in our lives started.

Brandon’s Birthday

For Brandon’s birthday he went with a handful of his good friends to play disc golf in Plainview and Amarillo. Then a group of our friends came over for a BBQ and to hang out. He had a great day!

For his birthday from his Dad and Susie, he got some money to go to one our favorite “special” restaurants in Lubbock, Las Brisas! It’s always a treat to go there and we LOVE it! We sat out on the patio because it was such a beautiful night, a little windy, but hey we live in Lubbock! We had portabella mushrooms stuffed with crab meat for our appetizer, Brandon had a wedge salad, filet and asparagus. And I had my favorite, trio fajitas. Yes, I know it’s a steakhouse, and you can get fajitas anywhere but there is something about the marinade that makes them AMAZING! It was a great night, and we truely cherish the nights that we both have off of work. It doesn’t happen very often!

Karli has figured out how good her hands taste. (And I also think she may be teething) So now they are pretty much fixed there!

We got home from dinner, and bathed Karli together, put her to bed, then enjoyed our evening catching up on our DVR.

9 weeks old

The last 2 weeks Karli has really started becoming more interactive. She smiles now, is starting to coo, reacting to her toys and just being darn cute! We went for her 2 month check up and her new stats are : Weight- 11 lbs 7 oz (75th percentile), and height 23.5 inches (95th percentile). She got 3 shots cried for all of 10 seconds then was fine until that afternoon and she started running a low grade temp and was SUPER fussy. I gave her a dose of tylenol and that did the trick and she was back to her normal self by that evening.

We’ve kind of gotten settled back into our usual schedule. I started back to work this week, and I was dreading it! It was hard to leave, but once I got to work I was ok. It felt good to be back, I truly am blessed to have a job that I really love.

OH! AND she started sleeping in her crib this week! She doesn’t care to nap in her crib but does great at night! Me on the other hand…..well I’m a work in progress, even with the monitor I still got up a couple of times to check on her.

Summer Adventures

Well we survived our trip to Houston and Indiana! We had a ton of fun, but I was so happy to be home, see Brandon, and sleep in my own bed. It seemed like the whole time we were gone we were on the go, trying to squeeze in everything we could, and see everyone that needed to be seen. But I’m glad we went so everyone could meet Karli while she was still really little. Karli was a great traveler! I drove down to Houston by myself with her and it ended up taking about 10 hours. We only had one time where I had to stop because she was crying, and it ended up that she just needed to burp. The plane ride is what I was worried about, but she ended up doing just fine. On our way back to Lubbock we ended up getting delayed because of the weather and were stuck in the airport for 5 hours. She slept pretty much the whole time, ate, then was a happy camper! I’m very blessed to have such a laid back baby!

Karli is growing right before my eyes, and I want her to slow down a little bit! We went to the weigh in clinic this week and she weighed 9 pounds 10.7 ounces! That’s up 1 pound 3 ounces from 2 weeks ago! As I’ve said before, she LOVES to eat!

I might curse myself for saying this, but in the past week Karli has slept 6-7 hours straight during the night. She’ll wake up about 4 or 5 eat, and then go back to sleep till about 8. It has been WONDERFUL! Now, lets see how it goes when we start traveling next week. *keeping my fingers crossed*

We’ve been gearing up to leave for Houston on Saturday. I’m getting a little stressed about having to drive 8 hours by myself with a newborn, but we can do it! Thankfully she doesn’t mind her car seat, so hopefully that will be on my side. Then we are going to fly to Indiana on the 21st, but thankfully my mom and sister will be with us. So she will get to take her first road trip and first plane ride within 2 weeks!

Next Monday will be our 2 year anniversary! Unfortunately, I will be in HOuston and Brandon will be here in Lubbock working. So we are gonna go out to dinner tomorrow night (baby free! ) to celebrate a little early. It’s hard to believe it’s been two years. I love him more and more every day especially when I see him with Karli. I am so proud of him for all that he does for us, and I can’t wait to grow old together!

I can’t believe I have a one month old (and some change) baby! She is growing so fast! She is becoming more and more alert every day, and her personality is really starting to blossom. Overall she is a GREAT baby! She of course has her moments, but for the most part she is just a happy, laid back baby. She does like to eat, in fact it’s probably her favorite thing, and if it was up to her she would probably nurse 24-7. Her growing cheeks are proof! I love my little girl more than I could ever could imagine, and it grows more and more every day!

We have a busy couple of weeks coming up! Karli and I leave for Houston on June 12 for a week to spend time with our family and meet 2 of her great-grandmothers and then celebrate the marriage of Tor and Chrystal. Then on the 21st Karli and I will go on her first plane ride to Indiana to meet all of my family. I haven’t seen most of my Indiana family since Brandon and I got married. So it’s a long over due visit and I can’t wait!
